Mentoring Programs

Mentoring Groups in Middle Schools are designed to bolster

self-esteem, build social skills, and provide positive

adult and peer role models for identified students.

The program used by FYSB is based on the Building Skills curriculum that uses an accredited evidence-based program implemented nationwide.  The program is led by Licensed Clinicians.

Groups of 10-12 students meet with a member of our licensed staff during the lunch hour on a weekly basis from September through May.

Most of the students in the group are referred by

the school social worker, although some join

when they hear about the group from another student.

Historically, FYSB holds two to four weekly groups

in Porter County middle schools each year.
